Farewell, for now, Sith
My half-Siamese cat, Sith was run over today, October 24, 2008.
It hurts like hell. But I know he would like for me to move on, just as he would when he leaves the house to live the life of a normal cat.
He would have turned 2 this November. He was given to me last February 2007. Marble, my late pure Siamese, was his brother. His name was inspired from the Final Fantasy 7 character “Cait Sith” who was a black cat on a giant mascot. Cait Sith, in turn, was also based from the phantom cats in Europe. Sith was also the name of the evil, black-clad versions of the Jedi in Star Wars.
Sith would wait for me at the gate or outside at the sidewalk when I come home. Then when I open the door, he would go first in the house.
He would sometimes lay on my stomach or between my legs while we sleep.
When I tap my foot twice, he rolls on the floor and waits for me to scratch his belly.
When he steps out of the house my dogs would be his entourage, seemingly escorting him outside.
We would immediately open the door when we hear a thump on the dog house, as Sith comes down from the rooftops. Or sometimes he would meow loudly to let us know he wants to come in.
He loved the repacked Whiskas. He would climb up the pail containing the dog & cat food and munch away straight from the plastic bags.
He would sleep in different positions on his mats in his favorite cage-house.
He didn’t like baths, but tolerated them anyway.
He would hide in a corner and surprise me by tagging my legs.
I will miss all these things.
I will miss his purrs. His baby eyes.
Tears that seem to come from my heart still want to burst out.
At least he had freedom, and we loved him very very much. The dogs treated him like their own kind. Most of all, we had the best moments and memories like father and son.
Here’s to my Sith, my baby, one of the best cats in the whole world. May he be happy with others who have also gone to rest.
