Wedding Horror stories

It was the second most horrible wedding I’ve ever attended.

At a famous “garden” in Quezon City where big-time weddings, birthdays and TV shoots take place, I had my share of traumatic experience.

The first was during the wedding of my girlfriend’s high school batchmate. After the mass me, my girlfriend & one of her best friends shared a table with other guests. Apparently the girl beside me was their elementary schoolmate. She brought her husband and a two (or three) year old son.

Each seat had a pillow as a wedding token for each guest.

At the middle of the reception/dinner, my-supposed-to-be-pillow was gone. I noticed that their friend (beside me) had three: one from her seat, one from her husband’s seat, and mine (which the boy was holding).

Geez… How pathetic can they be…

Last night, my girlfriend’s former officemate in the clinic (who arrived from Australia) held her wedding at the same venue. My girlfriend and I were with her officemates & affiliates (doctors, med techs, admin staff).

After the church wedding, everyone marched to the open reception area.

As expected, guests would race for the seats, eager to be served.

The table which my girlfriend and I were assigned to had only one vacant seat left.

Apparently, the sister of one of her officemates took my girlfriend’s seat. (Even though there were already name cards for each plate). The sister wasn’t on the guest list. Obviously just tagged along with her son to eat.

The (fat) sister, who wore clothes which seemed like they came from her old clothes laundry, carried her restless toddler son.

Tang-ina, parang walang pinag-aralan. Ung kapatid na officemate ng girlfriend ko, di na nahiya.

I had to ask the waiter for an extra chair, plate, spoon, fork, knife, and table napkin.

The mother & child immediately took the chocolates (the wedding souvenir which was supposed to be for my girlfriend) & ate them.

As if it wasn’t embarassing enough, her sister (the med-tech) immediately put another chocolate pack in her bag.

I gave my wedding souvenir to my girlfriend.

My girlfriend’s glass of water and fork were not spared. I gave my fork to my gf & had to go back to the salad buffet to get a small fork.

Ang kapal.

In the words of a friend, ika nga, “Nakakadumi”.
